Comment:
Echinococcus granulosus larval cysts - hydatid cysts in the liver. Size varies on the age of the cyst and its location from a few cm to more than 20 cm in diameter. Humans become infected by accidently ingesting food contaminated by dog (canine) faeces containing the eggs of the adult tape worm. The liberated embryo penetrates the intestinal mucosa with 66 percent of cysts lodging in the liver. The usual intermediate host is sheep or cattle or other herbivores such as kangaroos.
